Follow-ups
There is no timed follow-up sequence. What actually happens when a thread goes quiet, and how to nudge it yourself.
Follow-ups in GenLink do not work like a sequencer. There is no cadence to build and no timed drip. This page explains what actually happens, so you are not waiting for automation that does not exist.
There is no timed automatic follow-up#
GenLink does not run a scheduled follow-up sequence. There is no step 2 that fires after three days, no cadence builder, and no way to schedule a chain of nudges. The old timed follow-up job was removed. If you are used to sequencers, this is the part that is different: the agent does not machine-gun a prospect on a timer.
What actually happens when a thread goes quiet#
When a pitched thread has been quiet for four days, it is put in front of the agent once, inside the workday, and the agent decides whether a nudge is worth sending.
- It happens once, ever, for that thread. There is no second automatic look.
- It only happens inside your workday, so nudges keep human hours.
- The agent decides. It may send a short, relevant nudge, or it may leave the thread alone if a nudge would not help.
That is the whole of the automatic behaviour. Everything beyond that first look is up to you.
How to nudge a thread yourself#
You are always in control of a conversation. To follow up by hand:
- Open the thread in the inbox.
- Use the reply box at the bottom, headed "Replying to
". - Write your nudge and press Cmd+Enter to send.
Take over any thread this way whenever you want to push a promising conversation along, answer a question, or make an offer the agent brought to you.
Etiquette that keeps you out of spam#
Restraint is a feature here, not a limitation. A single, well-timed nudge on a genuinely relevant pitch is far more effective than a relentless sequence, and it protects your sending reputation.
Tip: if a contact has not replied after one thoughtful nudge, move on. Chasing a cold thread hurts your deliverability and your reputation more than it helps.
- Keep nudges short and add something new, do not just "bump" the thread.
- Never nudge a contact who said no or unsubscribed. The agent will not, and neither should you.
- Let the do-not-send list and workspace-wide dedupe do their job, so nobody gets pitched twice by accident.
If a thread does convert, mark it won in the inbox and record where the link went live, so the win lands in Results.
